Sleep/ health tracking app users need to access their sleep analysis easily and be able to share with their health professionals and take actions to improve sleep quality. The industry leading health apps are hard to customize and complicated for novice users.

Create a sleep and health tracking tool that is simple enough that novice users can easily access their data as well as allow customization for more advance users. It should integrate well with wearable devices for accurate reading.

I conducted remote user interviews to understand the needs, goals, and points of friction. I asked questions focused on users' experiences with health tracking apps. I then analyzed my users' answers by sorting them into an affinity map to gain overarching insights. The user research helped me confirm or revise my possible solutions and user stories. It was concluded the app needs the following functions:

  • Privacy settings to limit info share
  • Easy access to sleep monitor
  • Customizable dashboard for favorite and most used functions
  • Expert modes to pair with more advance devices such as basal metabolic rate calculator and sleep tracking wearables
